How to tell if the water pipes in your home need to be replaced?
Release time:Aug 06,2026
1. The service life of pipes exceeds the standard
Old-fashioned galvanized steel pipes: must be replaced after being used for more than 8 years. The inner wall is rusted over a large area and is easily blocked and leaked;
Aluminum-plastic composite pipe: high risk of aging and cracking after more than 10 years;
PPR hot and cold water pipes: the national standard service life is 50 years, but due to inferior brands, exposure to the sun, and long-term high temperatures, maintenance and replacement is recommended after more than 15 years of use;
Metal braided hoses (faucets, water heater connecting pipes): Replace every 2 years. Pipes that are more than 3 years old are highly susceptible to explosion if soaked in water.
2. Abnormal water quality and serious pipe wall corrosion
In the initial stage of water release, the water will turn yellow, rusty, smell of sand and rust;
There are black and reddish-brown impurities at the bottom of the standing water glass;
The outer wall of the pipe was rusted and peeled in large areas, and rust water seeped out along the joints.
3. Frequent leaks and ineffective repairs
Joints, threads, and elbows see water repeatedly, and wrapping raw material tape and gluing can only provide short-term relief;
Walls, cabinets, and ceilings have been damp for a long time, the walls have become moldy, the floors have blistered, and hidden leaks have been detected;
Cracks, bulges, and deformations appear in pipes, and hot water pipes soften and sag.
4. The water pressure continues to decrease and is often blocked.
The water output from faucets throughout the house is getting smaller and smaller, and cleaning the filter is useless;
Rust and scale accumulate inside the pipes, resulting in poor water flow and frequent blockage of faucets and showerheads.
5. Accelerated aging of the environment
Water pipes are left exposed on balconies and exposed to the sun for a long time; they are kept close to water heaters and baked at high temperatures for a long time; water seepage from the walls soaks the pipes all year round, doubling the aging rate.
